About This Disease

Woolly Apple Aphid forms white cottony colonies on branches, trunk, and roots. They suck sap from bark, causing galls and weakening the tree. Ants protect them from predators.

How to Identify

  1. White waxy wool-like covering on aphids. Purple-red body underneath when crushed. Galls and rough bark on branches. Colonies in pruning wounds and branch unions. Sticky honeydew on leaves.
